A Note About Our 2025 Ferndale Holiday Market

As we get ready for our holiday community market, we’ve been reflecting on why we host these gatherings in the first place. Is this another overly profit-driven event capitalizing on our hobbies?

Still Life Studio Santa Monica 2025 Holiday Market

The member markets began as a simple idea: a way to come together and share what we’ve been making with the people who cheer us on.

Our goal is to create an event where members can:

  • Meet up with each other outside of practice time
  • Invite family and friends into the studio
  • Celebrate the wins (like that big bowl that didn't collapse!) and
  • Showcase the progress everyone has made

When someone purchases a mug or a bowl, it is a sweet little bonus. It lets makers experience the joy of someone taking home something they created from scratch. But the heart of the event isn’t commerce, it’s community. It’s seeing the work displayed in a room full of people who appreciate the journey behind every pot.

The view of tables full of handmade pieces is beautiful, and our fellow members in their everyday clothes are sometimes unrecognizable! For our friends and family who wonder where we spend so much of our free time this is a chance to see the studio world.

The market is our way of saying:
Look at what we created together this year — and come celebrate with us.

The markets are a reminder that real purpose is community first, always. We showcase our work, lift each other up, and fill the space with laughter, and “I didn’t know you made THAT!” moments.

Thank you for being part of a studio where creativity and connection matter more than anything else. We can’t wait to see you at this years market — even if you’re just stopping by to sip something and say hi.  See you in the studio!
