Create Your Own Japanese-Inspired Dinnerware
Our Distinct Continuing Handbuilding Class

Are you ready to take your handbuilding skills to the next level? Join us this January at Still Life Ferndale for a four-week Continuing Handbuilding class and discover the art of crafting stunning, functional Japanese-inspired dinnerware. This course is perfect for potters looking to refine their technique, improve consistency, and create a cohesive table setting that is as beautiful as it is practical.
Guided by Asa Nagao, each session offers hands-on instruction and focused demonstrations to help you bring elegance, purpose, and creativity to your work. By the end of the month, you’ll leave with a complete table setting for two, plus an additional accessory kitchen piece — each handmade by you to enjoy for years to come.
Why This Class Is Unique

In this class, you’ll learn how to create stackable, high-functioning pieces using slab-building, pinch pot, and coiling techniques. You’ll also gain skills in speed and consistency, giving you the confidence to produce multiple pieces that are both cohesive and beautiful.
